I'm a college student on a budget, so $30 for a stick is a bit much for me. I want the color to stick out, you know? Should I be looking at reds with an orange tone and not the true reds because I'm making the true red look.dark pink.Īlso, if you would please provide some brands that aren't at very high price. Have you ladies been able to find a good brick red lipstick that actually shows up as red on your lips (meaning, it's thick enough to not let the natural color of your lips come through)? I've been trying to find the perfect red lipstick that would actually come out.red! Currently, I've tried two different reds (one from Bare Minerals and the other is store brand), and why the BM red came pretty close to what I was talking about, it still wasn't red enough. Red is life.I was going to say WoC, but this post is mainly geared towards my fellow Black women. No more story! Discuss amongst yourselves. Makeup wise, I cannot wear blue, gray, or pastel eyeshadow or I look dead even green eyeshadow unless it has a lot of khaki/bronze will make me look sickly. Rose gold and gold look better on me than silver. I look like shit in pastels, cool colors of any hue, and light-to-white colors. I look great in darker warmer colors like wine, eggplant, brown, dark bronze, burgundy, and some brighter warmer colors. So that's fun.Ĭolor-wise, although never been professionally draped, I estimate that I am a Deep/Dark Autumn or True Autumn. And all lipsticks except shit brown (cough MAC Photo cough) pull pink on me, even a lot of eyeshadow turns pinker than it looks in the pan. I have some surface redness that manifests as slight pinkness, so I always say that I am a warm pink (which is contradictory to everything, and I am definitely not a NW mac shade). I am definitely warm-toned, although 3.25 is called "light with neutral undertones" and Temptalia's Foundation Matrix matches it to MUFE Ultra HD Liquid Y325 (118), MAC Face and Body N1, and MAC Studio Fix/Pro Longwear NC30. I do not technically "know" if I'm olive, but I've been told that in the past. I do not live near a Sephora and have never been color matched, but today at Ulta I was like "why not just try and figure out what I'm close to" and Urban Decay Naked Skin liquid formula in 3.25 is a bang-on perfect match. Looks like it will require balm and lipliner. So, it's somewhat drying but not as drying as the Fire Down Below. Mia Wallace does tug quite a bit on bare lips it feels similar to my MAC Dubonnet (Amplified finish) and like NARS Audacious. Dry lips no matter what (even though I try to do HA and lanolin and Aquaphor and stuff). It is soooo flattering but the Semi-Matte formula sucks for me. The only lipstick that has been a true blood red for me has been NARS Fire Down Below. Seems like an odd formula? So I'm looking for lipsticks I can buy and return if necessary (Ulta, Sephora online). I asked on MUA a while ago about true blood red lipsticks, and while I really want to buy the Ellis Faas, which looks like my ideal blood red, I'm just a bit wary. I'm really sorry I cannot take a picture but my front-facing camera doesn't work, and well-lit pictures with the back camera are nigh impossible. It is not a fire-engine red (I will never find one of those that doesn't pull pink, sigh). It is not a deep red like MAC Dubonnet, it does not lean just a skosh too orange like my NARS Audacious Marlene. Mia Wallace (Vice line, Cream formula) and I bought it today and it is BLOOD RED. I believe /u/lgbtqbbq recommended Urban Decay Mrs.
